Additionally, the varicella immunization has changed to the following:
Varicella
Starting with the 2023/24 school year and moving forward in subsequent years, any new enterer in early childhood, 4K, or students K-12 who are claiming an exception to the varicella vaccination requirement because they had chickenpox disease will need to meet the verification requirement of such disease. This verification must be provided by a qualified health care provider (M.D., D.O., N.P, or P.A.). New enterer means any student enrolling in a Wisconsin school for the first time. This typically means all kindergarten students and students transferring from an out of state (non-Wisconsin) school.
Students currently enrolled during the 2022/23 school year who have parental report of chickenpox disease are not required to submit verification of such disease by a qualified health care provider. Schools are not required to ask families to resubmit forms claiming exemption from the varicella requirement unless the status of the student changes such as they move out of state and then re-enroll. Simply stated students currently with parental report of disease or a signed waiver of the varicella requirement do not need to submit new forms.
There are changes that will take place for the upcoming school year for students regarding immunization requirements per state of Wisconsin. Changes are regarding students in 7th and 12th grades. Meningococcal vaccination is now required for students in these grades; a waiver will be required to have on file for students who will not be vaccinated due to health, religious, or personal reasons.
The school nurse will be identifying students who have not received these immunizations and reaching out to parents this spring. An additional change is that the Tdap booster (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) boosters are now required for the 7th grade (had previously been 6th grade) I have summarized the changes in a word document attached here.

The district recently completed a project to upgrade the cardio equipment in the fitness center. The students are very excited and thankful to have new and working machines. Special thanks to both the New Lisbon Education Foundation and the New Lisbon PTC who made generous donations to this project. A huge thank you also goes out to our hard working maintenance/custodial staff and high school students who removed the old machines and installed the new ones.

The New Lisbon Rocket Fishing Club participated in an ice fishing day on Lake Tomah on January 21. Allison caught the largest fish - a 26" northern pike. Members caught many other fish including bluegills and perch. Many thanks to K.A.M.O. (Kids and Mentors Outdoors) - Meadow Valley Chapter for putting on this fun day and teaching our members some new fishing strategies.
Mrs. Jones’ Geography class is currently studying the continent of Africa and had a special speaker, Ms. Louisa Mainu, come in to talk to them about her home country of Ghana!! She showed native clothing, headdresses, talked about the Ghana culture, what schools are like, jewelry, traditions of her country, and made three different types of Ghana food for the students to try!!!
What an amazing opportunity for students to see, experience, and ask questions of someone from another culture!!! She encouraged our students to take advantage of travel and to see as much of the world as they can as it is one of the best teachers. We all appreciated and loved your visit today!! You were such a blessing to our students and they loved you as I was confident they would!! Thank you again for the time you took to invest in our students experience!

These band students were busy this weekend at UW-Oshkosh for an All-State Honors Band! A huge congratulations to Campbell, Tyler, Clara, and Isabella on their performance and hard work in rehearsals this weekend! We are so proud of our Rockets!
