Overview

Developmental Guidance-Guidance classes are taught to all students in grades 4K-6 once a week on a rotating schedule between Mrs. Bork or Mr. Hansen. Classes are 15 minutes for 4K(Mrs. Bork) and 30 minutes for K-6(Mrs. Bork or Mr. Hansen).

Individual Counseling--The counselor is available to work with students on an individual basis in order to help them reach their educational goals and potential. Students can be referred to the counselor by parent/guardian or teacher. The school counselor does not offer therapeutic or clinical counseling. If you are unsure of the services you suspect your child needs, contact your school counselor for more information.

Small Groups--Small groups can be beneficial for a child dealing with a specific situational concern. Groups of 4-8 students are formed focusing on a common topic. Groups can help the child feel they are not alone in dealing with their issue, while allowing them to grow and learn from each other. All group work is done under the supervision of the school counselor. Examples of group topics are friendship, family changes, self-esteem, grief/loss, etc. Group topics change as the needs of the students change. If you feel your child would benefit from being a member of a small group, contact your school counselor for more information.
