Philosophy

Our media center is a learning/teaching environment. The New Lisbon IMC shall exist to promote the intellectual, cultural, social and ethical development of the student body and to provide books, periodicals and audiovisual materials which extend and deepen the students' experiences encompassed in the curriculum.

I recognize that the purpose of education is to investigate ideas and prepare individuals for productive lives. Therefore, the school library and audiovisual facilities will provide comprehensive collections of materials representing a wide diversity of views.

I SERVE to provide library services to students, staff, and community.

I TEACH to demonstrate literacy skills in our k-12 curriculum, to integrate technology in daily use of library resources, and instill the love of reading for instructional and recreational use.

I BUILD to develop technology and best practices for providing library services to the School District of New Lisbon. To build our collection to represent all facets of issues and maintain our strong believe in intellectual freedom.

I LEARN conduct library skill classes in Grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 6, provide opportunities for Junior High and High School students to study authors, literature and other fictional works, and develop research skills.

I SHARE to promote our services. Share our knowledge with students, staff, and community. Participate in efforts to create and promote Wisconsin Academic standards. Disseminate technology and practices to others. Develop relationships with students and staff. Provide leadership in media services.
