High School

New Lisbon High School offers students a quality education in a personable and safe environment. An up-to-date facility assures that all students have the opportunity to be adequately prepared to meet the challenges beyond high school. To accomplish this, an experienced and diverse staff works to meet the needs of our entire student body.

A school is known by the spirit and involvement of the pupils and staff. New Lisbon High School offers many new experiences for our students as they move toward their future. The following suggestions help to make our students enjoy profitable years:

Be completely prepared for each day.

Participate in school activities in a positive way.

Respect yourself, your teachers, and your peers.

Help keep the building and grounds neat and clean.

Understand the procedures and expectations of the teachers and the school.

Conduct yourself in a manner that is a credit to you, your parents, and your community.

The successes achieved in high school are a direct result of the amount of effort contributed. We encourage every student to participate in all aspects of the school program and find those things that will prepare them to live the life they dream about once their school career is finished.

Excerpts from article By Gail Boehm, Juneau County Star-Times

Daniel Haschke, a 2011 graduate of New Lisbon High School, is a saxophonist and flutist with the Wisconsin Singers, a group that bills itself as "UW Madison's professional entertainment company."

NLHS G.I.V.E Program Hosts Blood Drive

New Lisbon High School held a blood drive on Tuesday, February 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Pictured are G.I.V.E members Danielle, Hailee and Morgan giving blood on Valentine's Day.

Eighty units of blood were collected from students, staff, and community members.  This event was a collaboration between the American Red Cross and the New Lisbon High School service club, G.I.V.E. (Getting Involved through Volunteer Experiences).  G.I.V.E contributed by providing members to set up, work as donor aides, help with registration, work in the canteen, and clean up afterwards.  Members of the organization could also earn an hour of volunteer service by donating blood.  Students as young as sixteen years old were able to give blood with parent permission.

This is the third year that G.I.V.E. has hosted the blood drive during school hours.  Sophomore Morgan McGuire and senior Dani Benson, two G.I.V.E. officers, co-chaired the drive.  "I feel that the blood drive went smoothly.  We had a lot of people come in and give blood," said Benson.  One unit of blood can save three lives.  Enough blood was donated in New Lisbon High School on February 14 to save the lives of 240 people.

Financial Literacy Learning

Junior and senior high school students from Ms. Mecikalski's Life Skills class spent a few days with personnel from Oakdale Credit Union learning about financial literacy.  Oakdale Credit Union CEO Colleen Woggon came to the class one day to talk and provide interactive activities about budgeting and establishing excellent credit ratings.  Students then traveled to Oakdale to learn more about the banking and money management process.  Colleen Woggon and student Micquel simulate the process of asking for a loan.  Students were required to budget an annual income with other necessities such as housing, bills and other payments, and securing a small percentage to a savings account.  Research was required for purchasing an automobile and students participated in the loan process either by role playing or watching.  The day ended with Reedsburg Branch Manager Becky Jennings explaining to the class about Oakdale Credit Union's Money Mission game found on the Credit Union website.  Students found this project to be informative and eye-opening as well as meaningful.  The Money Mission game was an amazing supplementary exercise.
