Hi Everyone!

I'm Mrs. Rood, one of the teachers & producers of the vocal music program here in New Lisbon.  I also teach the 6th grade QUEST - Skills for Adolescence class, direct the high school musical and am a proud alumni of NLHS.  This is truly my "home".

After graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education degree with Elementary Emphasis from the mighty Blugold country of UW-Eau Claire in 1976  I began my teaching career at Tomah Junior High, loving every minute of it for 8 years.  In 1987 the opportunity arose to teach K-12 music in New Lisbon and yep - I've been here ever since and have thoroughly enjoyed working with all the "kids" and staff of the New Lisbon School District.

I have been so fortunate to have had many wonderful opportunities to enrich my teaching & learning career and I love sharing all of it with the students and staff here in New Lisbon.  A few of these adventures include attending Show Choir Camps of America for 6 summers, being the Soprano coach for the Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music on 7 trips to Europe, and meeting such famous artists as "The Little Mermaid" and many of the composers of the music we sing with the choirs.  I also continue to attend workshops, clinics, teach private lessons, play & sing for weddings, accompany musicians, etc. etc. etc.

Traveling is one of my favorite "pastimes" and planning our music department trips and special outings for the staff members has become one of my specialties.  Our trips have included the 1st "America Sings" celebration in Washington D.C. in 1989; music department trips to Colorado, New Orleans, New York City and staff outings to Minneapolis, Chicago, Newport RI & NYC.  After experiencing my first NLHS band & choir trip back in 1972 as a student traveling on 2 yellow school buses to New York City all of our trips are now done by motorcoach.  That was quite a memorable experience!

Teaching children is a wonderful experience with memories to last forever.

and I truly believe that for each child ....

"If I give you a fish you can eat for a day, but if I teach you to fish,

You can eat for a lifetime!
