COURSE 2: Basic Language - Section 001
This year is something new! The previous class, Vocational English, has now been consolidated with the Basic Language class and will be team taught with Jim Giebel and me. This class is designed to meet the individual reading and written language needs of each students. Although some of the students will be doing similar activities, mostly this materials are individualized to match and challenge the students' abilities. Students will receive an integration of contemporary and classical literature to short stories, poetry, and non-fiction material. Included will be writing activities of various length such as short answer responses, essays, blogs, wikis, and other modes of presentation. Career studies to involve exploration, seeking and maintaining jobs, job applications, and job interviewing are also included in this class. Students will have the opportunity to read from college-level textbooks of their interest to acquire career-related vocabulary and comprehension. This class varies from year to year, but the content remains the same.
