I have been with the School District of New Lisbon for more than twenty years. The love of art, children and small town living brought me to New Lisbon. I grew up in Iowa and attended Winona State University until coming to New Lisbon in 1988.
It has been a busy year so far for the art department. Students have enjoyed a variety of art making opportunities. The seventh and eighth grade students have been working on a variety of art including color theory, drawing skills, 3-D design and Native American art just to name a few. My high school Drawing/Painting classes have researched artists, learned about value and shading techniques, perspective and watercolor painting. My Photography class learns the fundamentals for traditional and digital photography. Ceramics and 3-D Design focuses on the basic design principles and elements in developing three dimentional compositions. The Independent Study students are working on what interests them to create a portfolio.
I am looking forward to getting to know new students in the art program as well as working with those students I have known for years. It is my hope to continue to add technology and modern teaching techniques to the traditional hands on curriculum - especially at the high school level. The best way to reach me is by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at 608-562-3700, ext. 1320.
Don't forget about the annual art department fundraiser - Original Works - where you can see your child's artwork made into items such as magnets, mousepads, t-shirts and so much more. Look for details at parent-teacher conferences in March. Also, please check out the events that showcase our student's work - the elementary/junior high show (usually in March during parent/teacher conferences) and Fine Arts Night (usually in April).
