Needed Materials/Tools
All students taking a math class are expected to have a calculator which can be used at school or home. Below are recommendations for each math class taught at New Lisbon High School.
Algebra 1, 1A or 2...............Scientific Calculator or *Graphing Calculator
Geometry or Geometry A....Scientific Calculator or *Graphing Calculator
College Algebra/Trig...........Scientific Calculator or **Graphing Calculator
Calculus.............................Scientific Calculator or **Graphing Calculator
*Students will have access to a TI-Nspire graphing calculator in the math room and will be trained in its use. However, students will not be allowed to take them out of the building. Students with internet access can use online versions for free - some of which are bookmarked on my website. (For those who would rather buy one, Texas Instruments models TI-83, TI-84, TI-86 or TI-nspire are recommended. There is also an iPad app version of the TI-Nspire at a price point much cheaper than the actual handheld calculator.)
**Texas Instruments graphing calculators are available for loan to students who are currently enrolled in College Algebra/Trigonometry, or Calculus courses.
Students should also have available a notebook, a folder for organizing loose handouts, pencils, a ruler (in/cm), a protractor, and a compass.
Although not required, access to the internet is recommended in that it allows for the ability to download handouts or class notes, find out missing assignments or tasks, use online resources, etc.
