DARE Graduation
On Tuesday, February 7th, fifty-two New Lisbon 5th graders participated in the 2012 DARE graduation. DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is a cooperative program between the New Lisbon Police Department and the School District of New Lisbon. The program, taught by New Lisbon police officer Kevin Wienshrott, gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, bullying, violence and how to resist peer pressure. All of the students wrote essays on what they learned and how they will be able to stay drug free. Four of the essays were read by the students. Mrs. Barker’s class representative was Alexia Bos, from Mrs. Shankle’s class, Jared Dvorak, and from Mrs. Dummer’s class, Tess Bigalke. The overall essay winner was Molly Wiese, from Mrs. Dummer’s class. Her essay will go on to the state competition. The entire group sang DARE songs taught by music teacher Bev Rood and then received their DARE certificates of completion.

Box Tops For Education® Benefits New Lisbon Schools |
We want to thank everyone who has participated in the Box Tops For Education® Program. Great job, everyone! This year we collected and submitted over 18,000 Box Tops which totals $1838.00. Keep clipping your Box Tops this spring and over the summer. It’s the longest time span we have to collect, almost eight months. Just think of the impact we can make! We’ll be submitting again next October and we’ll receive another check next December. And again a HUGE Thank You to all the students and parents we truly could not do it without your wonderful support. This goes not just for the box tops but for the soup labels as well as Milk Moola and Caps for Kids. If you have any questions about Box Tops, please let me know. Thank you to everyone who bought, clipped and sent in Box Tops. Together we’re ensuring our kids’ success! You can contact Amanda Roach at aroach3178@gmail.com.
